Learning Snapshot Assessment:

A clear starting point for understanding how your child learns

If you’re here, you may be noticing patterns in how your child reads or writes and wanting a clearer picture of what those patterns mean.

Your child may be putting in effort, sharing ideas verbally, or showing strengths in some areas while needing support in others. School feedback can feel broad, and choosing the next steps without clear guidance can feel uncertain.

The Learning Snapshot Assessment is designed to give you an informed starting point before you decide what comes next.

This assessment is designed to help you understand your child

The Learning Snapshot Assessment is designed to help you build a clearer picture of how your child learns right now.

It helps you understand:

  • How your child approaches reading and/or writing in real time

  • Which skills are solidly in place and supporting progress

  • How learning patterns show up in your child's work and performance

  • How pacing, regulation, and stamina play a role during learning

This assessment is not about labeling your child or rushing to conclusions.

It’s about understanding what’s happening beneath the surface so next steps feel thoughtful and aligned.

This is a working assessment, not a sales conversation

This is a focused, one-on-one learning assessment.

Our time together is spent observing, interacting, and learning about how your child engages with reading and/or writing tasks. The purpose is understanding, not selling.

You will receive clear feedback and next-step options, whether or not you decide to continue beyond the assessment. There is no pressure to move forward.

The assessment takes place in a guided way

The Learning Snapshot Assessment takes place on Koala Go.

We begin by getting to know each other and helping your child feel comfortable in the space. I guide your child through how the platform works so they know what to expect before the assessment begins.

This time is intentional. It supports comfort, reduces uncertainty, and allows me to observe how your child responds to new tools and instructions.

The assessment includes structured reading and/or writing activities

Once your child is settled, we move into the assessment portion.

I use targeted reading and/or writing activities based on the information you shared about your child. These activities help me observe how skills are applied, how your child thinks through tasks, and how learning unfolds moment by moment.

The focus is on understanding patterns, not measuring performance.

Brain breaks are included to support focus and regulation

Short brain breaks are included as needed throughout the assessment.

These breaks support focus and stamina while also providing insight into how your child transitions, resets, and returns to learning. This information is an important part of understanding how to support learning effectively.

Learning behaviors are carefully observed throughout the assessment

Throughout the assessment, I observe how your child:

  • Approaches new or familiar tasks

  • Follows directions and responds to prompts

  • Engages with feedback

  • Navigates challenge and effort

These learning behaviors provide meaningful insight into how your child learns and what types of support are most helpful.

You receive a clear, written assessment summary after the assessment

Within 24 hours of the assessment, you will receive a written summary that explains:

  • Your child’s strengths and areas of confidence

  • Skills observed during the assessment

  • Areas that may benefit from targeted support

  • Learning behaviors that influence reading and/or writing

The feedback is written in clear, parent-friendly language so you can understand both what was observed and how it connects to your child’s learning.

This written summary is designed to be something you can return to and reference over time.

You are given clear next-step options without pressure

Along with the written feedback, you will receive clear directions for next steps.

These options may include:

  • Information about ongoing lessons, along with a client agreement and scheduling options

  • An alternative option to access a discounted MobyMax subscription for independent, adaptive practice

All options are shared clearly so you can choose what best fits your child and your family. There is no obligation to continue beyond the assessment.

How long is the assessment?

Most sessions last 1-2 hours, depending on your child. That gives time to connect, check key skills, take brain breaks, and share next steps.

What does my child need?

A charged device ( a desktop or laptop is preferred) and a quiet space. Headphones help but aren’t required.

Is this a tutoring session?

No. This is a one-time assessment designed to help you understand how your child learns and what kind of support will help most. You’ll receive written feedback and next-step options, whether or not you choose tutoring.

Will the assessment fee be credited toward tutoring?

The assessment fee is a standalone service and not automatically credited. The assessment provides clarity and information to help you make an informed decision about next steps.

If this feels like the clarity you’ve been looking for, you can schedule your child’s assessment above.

I look forward to meeting you and your child.

Let's make your child feel seen, capable, and confident.
